The exams administered at Social Sciences University of Ankara (SSUA) Turkish Teaching Research and Application Center (TÖMER) are as follows:

• Turkish Placement Exam
• Turkish Course Completion Exam
• Turkish Proficiency Exam

Turkish Placement Exam

It is the exam that determines the language competencies of the candidates who want to study at SSUA TÖMER.

This exam is applied to measure the following skills:

• Reading and Understanding
• Written Expression (Writing)
• Listening – Comprehension
• Dialogue
• Individual Talk

The result of the Placement Exam is valid for 3 (three) months.

The exam fee is 1000 TRY. It is free for SSUA staff and students.

Turkish Course Completion Exam

It is the exam applied at the end of each course (180 hours).

In order to move to the next level, each skill grade must be at least 15 out of 25 points, and the total of all four skills must be at least 60.

The student failing in two language skills is considered unsuccessful. For the student who has failed in only a single language skill, a make-up exam from a single skill is applied within one week following the announcement of the course exam. In order to pass the said exam, it is necessary to get at least 15 points out of 25.

Although it does not affect the end-of-course exam, a midterm exam is administered in the middle of each course, that is, after 90 hours.

The exam is free of charge for students currently studying at SSUA TÖMER.

Turkish Proficiency Exam

It is an exam that determines the Turkish proficiency of the candidates who want to study at SSUA or other universities. In this exam, students who are successful at the C1 level will have proven their Turkish knowledge at a level that can be educated in a higher education institution in Türkiye where the language of instruction is Turkish.

This exam is applied in the following areas:

• Reading and understanding
• Written Expression (Writing)
• Listening – Comprehension
• Dialogue
• Individual Talk

Evaluation of this exam is made according to the competency level and scores stated in the table below, by taking the average of 4 skills out of 100 full points, provided that you get at least 15 points from each skill. The issued certificate is valid for one year.

The exam fee is 1000 TRY.
